Police arrest two after vehicle intercept in Gisborne

Police have arrested two people following a vehicle intercept in Gisborne early this morning (3 April).

Officers conducting a routine patrol observed a suspect vehicle parked with the engine running at a truck stop on the Calder Freeway around 1.35am.

A man and female youth with the car were spoken to and the girl was allegedly found to have cannabis in her possession as well as a stolen driver's licence and bank cards.

Police then searched the vehicle and allegedly located a number of illegal items including a stolen registration plate used in a petrol theft, a metal bar and a knife.

A 43 year-old man was charged with Theft and weapon offences and bailed to attend Kyneton Magistrates' Court on 17 June.

A 16 year-old female was charged with Possess Cannabis and theft offences and bailed to attend a Children's Court at a later date.
