Police arrest two after violent assault in Youngtown

Two men have today been arrested in relation to a violent assault that occurred at Brooklyn Road Youngtown on Monday night.

A 25 year old man and 28 year old man, both of Youngtown, will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court this evening charged with Wounding, Criminal Damage as well as hooning offences. The suspect vehicle has also been seized and impounded by police.

Police allege the offenders were targeting an address in Brooklyn Road by conducting donuts and burnouts in a Holden Commodore in the front of the house.

It's alleged that they then got out of their vehicle, trespassed on the male victim's property and caused damage to a vehicle in his driveway.

The victim confronted the offenders, who chased him back in to his driveway and struck him multiple times with what is believed to be a blockbuster and a baseball bat.

The 57 year old victim remains in the Launceston General Hospital after receiving a stab wound to his abdomen, cuts and lacerations to his head, and the loss of a number of teeth.

Investigations are continuing in relation to a third offender.
