Police arrest two people in possession of commercial quantity of cannabis

Two men have been arrested after they were allegedly found with a commercial quantity of cannabis and hydroponic equipment in a truck in Whittlesea overnight, Victoria Police say.

Kinglake police officers were on patrol when they saw a rental truck travelling south on Yea Road just after midnight.

The officers intercepted the vehicle and noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the rear of the truck.

The truck was searched and a commercial quantity of cannabis in plant form and stripped leaves was allegedly located.

The driver, a 28-year-old Brighton man and his passenger, a 29-year-old Bulleen man, have been charged with possess and traffick a commercial quantity of cannabis.

They are both expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later this morning
