Police arrest woman after house fire at Murwillumbah

A woman has been arrested following a house fire in the state's north overnight.

About 11.55pm (Friday 25 November 2022), emergency services were called to a home in Commercial Road, Murwillumbah, following reports of a house fire.

On arrival, officers from Tweed/Byron Police District found the house well alight.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and no one has reported any injuries.

A crime scene was established, and investigations commenced into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Following inquiries, a 28-year-old woman was arrested nearby about 1am today (Saturday 26 November 2022).

She was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, where she is assisting police with their inquiries.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information is urged to come forward.
