Police Arrest Woman After Port Augusta House Fire

A woman has been arrested after a house was destroyed by fire at Port Augusta West overnight.

Police and emergency services were called to Webb Court just before 11pm on Tuesday 9 June following reports of a house fire.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the dwelling.

A 38-year-old woman and a teenage girl were taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The woman was subsequently arrested and charged with arson and acts to endanger life. She was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 10 June.

Fire cause investigators and local detectives are attending the scene today as investigations continue.
