A woman has been charged following a domestic violence incident and building fire in Batehaven on Saturday.
About 10.40pm (Saturday 20 July 2019), emergency services were called to Peter Crescent following reports that a residential building was on fire.
Officers attached to South Coast Police District arrived to locate a distressed 45-year-old male with injuries to the right side of his head, sustained prior to the fire. He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
A 55-year-old woman was conveyed to hospital with possible smoke inhalation.
The occupants of the second unit within the building escaped the blaze uninjured.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the building was destroyed by the fire.
Neighbouring properties were not evacuated.
A crime scene was established, and a warrant was executed at the scene at 11.30am on Sunday (21 July 2019).
A short time later, the 45-year-old woman left hospital and was charged with two counts of assault actual bodily harm.
She was served with an apprehended domestic violence order and will appear before Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday 29 July 2019.
It is believed the fire started in the bedroom of one of the two units, however the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
