Police Attend Major Crash in Charters Towers

Forensic Crash Unit are appealing for dashcam footage after a traffic crash in Mingela yesterday afternoon, 4 September.

Initial investigations indicate at 5.15pm a cattle truck was travelling southwest on the Flinders Highway between Mingela and Charters Towers. Due to smoke from a grass fire blowing onto the road, the driver of the truck slowed down.

A second cattle truck collied with the rear of the truck and a 4WD subsequently crashed into the second truck.

The male driver and female passenger of the second truck were both airlifted to Townsville University Hospital in a serious condition.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who has dashcam vision or was travelling on the road at that time to contact police.

Investigations are ongoing.
