Police call for information over sudden death incident in East Devonport

Police are continuing to investigate the sudden death of a man in his 60s, who was located deceased on Pardoe Road, East Devonport, this morning.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene about 6am, where a man was located deceased with head injuries on the side of the road, near a white Holden Barina vehicle.

Shortly after a man returned to the scene and was taken into custody by police.

Police believe the deceased man and the man in custody are linked and are investigating why the men were in the area.

Police wish to speak to anyone that may have seen a man in the Wesley Vale or Devonport Airport vicinity or may have given a man a lift.

"We are also investigating a burglary incident at a nearby business in Port Sorell Road during which a white Hyundai Getz was allegedly stolen, which may also be linked to the two men. Anyone that may have seen a white Holden Barina or a white Hyundai Getz in the area are asked to contact police," Detective Acting Inspector Tony Stewart said.

Police including officers from CIB, Forensics and Uniform attended the scene and are conducting examinations into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

"As with all sudden deaths, police carry out investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding a person's death. Initial investigations suggest the man's death is not believed to have been caused by a vehicle crash," Detective Acting Inspector Stewart said.

Anyone with information that may help the investigation should call Devonport Police on 131444 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or crimestopperstas.com.au
