Police car damaged in crash at Mawson Lakes, South Australia

A police car has been extensively damaged after a crash at Mawson Lakes.

Just after 1am on Saturday 16 March, a patrol car was stationary at the intersection of Main North Road and Mawson Lakes Boulevard with its emergency lights activated, with a police officer standing near the car directing traffic with a torch.

A Mazda station wagon has then collided with the unoccupied car, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

The police car was being used to divert traffic away from a serious crash further down Main North Road at Pooraka.

The driver of the Mazda, a 66-year-old Golden Grove man, was not injured and will be interviewed by police at a later date.

The male police officer was not injured and resumed traffic control duties soon after.
