Police car rammed at Balaklava, SA

Yorke Mid North Police are looking for a man after a police car was rammed at Balaklava last night, according to SA Police.

Just before 7.15pm on Friday 24 February police stopped and spoke to a man sitting in a Mitsubishi Outlander 4WD which was parked in the car park of the medical centre on War Memorial Drive.

As the patrol was conducting checks on the driver, the man started the engine and reversed into the patrol car.

The man also collided with the corner of the medical centre, knocking down several verandah posts, as he drove off . The car continued down War Memorial Drive before it was found abandoned in a creek a short time later.

Several patrols searched the area with the assistance of police dog operations but were unable to locate the driver.

Subsequent checks on the car revealed that it had been stolen from a home at Snowtown.

There were no reported injuries.

Police investigations are continuing and are following positive lines of enquiry.
