Police cars rammed, police pursuit in Windale

A teenage boy has been arrested following a police pursuit in Windale this morning, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 1.10am (Saturday 7 April 2018) a silver Mazda 323 failed to stop for a mobile random breath test on South Street, Windale.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District initiated a police pursuit.

The pursuit travelled west along South Street until the road merged into Wilsons Road.

At the intersection of Wilsons and Violet Town Roads, the driver lost control, spinning around.

The vehicle continued north along Wilsons Road to the intersection of Warners Bay Road where the driver allegedly failed to negotiate a left-hand corner, lost control and stopped.

As officers attempted to arrest the teen, he allegedly drove into the front of the police vehicle which was stationary. The teen then allegedly reversed into another police vehicle which was also stationary.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested at the scene and taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive – recklessly and resist officer in execution of duty.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Monday 30 April 2018.
