Police catch up with St Albans speedster

A driver was caught speeding with three passengers on board in St Albans this weekend, Victoria Police say.

Brimbank Highway Patrol officers detected a Ford XR6 sedan travelling without headlamps at 156km/h in a 60km/h zone on St Albans Road at 2am Saturday morning.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle and the driver evaded by refusing to stop.

The car sped onto Furlong Road and passed the Sunshine hospital at 136 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

A short time later the car was located dumped in Bradman Street, Sunshine.

The 26-year-old male driver from Yarraville was arrested 8pm Saturday night and interviewed for numerous traffic offences.

He is expected to be charged summons with two counts of conduct endangering life, two counts of speed dangerous, two counts of drive in a manner dangerous, two counts of exceeding the speed limit, two counts of disobey traffic control signal and evade police.

His car was impounded at a cost of $878.00 for a period of one month.
