Police Charge 752 People During Operation Amarok XII

A Wentworth Point man has faced court after police rescued a woman from the Parramatta River, one of 752 people charged with domestic violence offences during a four-day statewide operation.

Operation Amarok XII ran from Wednesday 12 November to Saturday 15 November 2025.

On Wednesday (12 November 2025), officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command were called to Wentworth Place, Wentworth Point about 12.35am, following reports of people arguing.

Officers attending the scene spoke to a man on Burroway Road, near Parramatta River, who told police that a woman was in the river.

The two constables located the 44-year-old woman in the river, but she was unable to swim to shore. One of the officers entered the water and managed to swim the woman to safety.

The woman had reportedly jumped into the river to escape a physical assault. She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

The 33-year-old man, known to the woman, was arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station.

He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), intentionally choke person with recklessness (DV) and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.

The man appeared at Burwood Local Court the same day, where he was formally refused bail to reappear on Wednesday 13 May 2026.

Operation Amarok is an intelligence-led, offender-focussed operation that aims to ensure the safety and wellbeing of domestic and family violence victims and the broader NSW community.

The Domestic and Family Violence Command-led operation also involved officers from each regions' Domestic Violence High Risk Offenders Team (DVHROT), along with specialist officers from Raptor Squad, Youth Command, State Crime Command's Child Protection Register, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, and the Police Transport Command.

Across the four days, 752 people were arrested and charged, with 275 arrest warrants executed.

Police laid 1,629 charges and conducted 1,464 bail compliance checks and 13,369 apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO) compliance checks with a total of 395 breaches identified.

Officers conducted 120 firearms prohibition order (FPO) searches, with 87 firearms and 30 weapons seized.

The Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism, Yasmin Catley said this twelfth iteration of Operation Amarok is yet another reminder that police are relentless in their mission to confront the state's most dangerous domestic violence perpetrators head-on.

"Operation Amarok sends a powerful message to every victim-survivor that you are not alone and police are working every day to protect you.

"Through Amarok, and with the support of the Australian-first Domestic and Family Violence Command, police are able to track the most dangerous offenders with extraordinary precision. This work is complex but it saves lives.

"With more than 150,000 calls for help every single year, police understand the urgency and the heartbreak of this crisis. Their commitment is unwavering, and they will continue to do everything in their power to keep victims safe."

Domestic and Family Violence Corporate Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Peter McKenna, said police remained unwavering in their commitment to protecting victims and holding offenders accountable.

"NSW Police will continue to pursue and arrest the most serious domestic violence offenders and put them before the court," Assistant Commissioner McKenna said.

"Domestic and family violence is unacceptable, and it has no place in our communities.

"We urge anyone experiencing or witnessing domestic and family violence to come forward. Police will listen, investigate and take action."

As part of ongoing inquiries into the whereabouts of a 23-year-old man wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants for domestic violence offences, officers attached to South West Metropolitan Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team (SWMR DVHROT) and South West Metropolitan Region Operational Support Group (SWMR OSG) stopped a bus on the Hume Highway at Bass Hill about 5.40am on Wednesday (12 November 2025). The man was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station where the outstanding warrants were executed. He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court the same day.

About 11.40am on Wednesday (12 November 2025), the Hunter Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team (DVHROT) – assisted by Northern Region OSG – attended a home in Cessnock as part of an investigation into an alleged domestic violence-related incident. During a search of the property, police located a 52-year-old man wanted on an outstanding warrant for 15 domestic violence related offences. The man was found in a vehicle parked at the property, and when he allegedly refused to exit the vehicle, police forced entry and arrested the man. During a search, officers seized methamphetamine, two counterfeit $50 notes, and a driver's licence in the name of another person. He was taken to Cessnock Police Station where the warrant was executed. He appeared before Bail Division Court 2 on Thursday (13 November 2025).

About 6.30pm on Wednesday (12 November 2025), officers attached to South West Metropolitan Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team attended a home on Boorea Street, Lidcombe and arrested a 38-year-old man in relation to alleged domestic violence offence and an outstanding warrant. He was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with intentionally distribute intimate image without consent (domestic violence), use carriage service to menace/harass/offend, and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic).

He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court on Thursday (13 November 2025). Police allege the man recorded intimate images and videos of the woman without her consent.

About 6.30pm on Wednesday (12 November 2025), officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command attended a home on Waterlilly Terrace, Bidwell, in relation to an alleged domestic violence incident. A 29-year-old man was arrested and taken to Mount Druitt Police Station where he was charged stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (domestic). He was refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court on Thursday 13 November 2025. Police allege the man sent threatening text messages to a woman known to him on Thursday 23 October 2025.

About 7.30am on Thursday (13 November 2025), officers attached to South Coast Police District attended a home on Verge Street, Callala Bay, to conduct a firearms and weapons prohibition order and apprehended domestic violence compliance checks. Police searched the home and found an airgun pistol with two magazines in the living room and a small quantity of cannabis leaf. A 50-year-old man was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with firearm found at premises - subject to prohibition order, possess unregistered firearm - pistol, possess prohibited drug and breach of bail. The man was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 3 on Thursday 13 November 2025 where he was formally refused bail to appear at Nowra Local Court on Tuesday 18 November 2025.

About 8.30am on Thursday (13 November 2025), officers attached to the Region Enforcement Squad Monaro stopped a car on Old Cooma Road, Googong, to conduct Firearms and Weapons Prohibitions Order compliance checks on the front passenger, a 53-year-old man. Police searched the car and located a taser which resembles a torch, cannabis and counterfeit cash. Officers attended the man's home on Tempe Street, Googong, and located drugs including cannabis, ketamine and methylamphetamine. Police also located two replica handguns, two crossbows, a second taser, and a double-edged knife. The 53-year-old man was arrested and taken to Queanbeyan Police Station where he was charged with 11 offences for possess unregistered firearm – pistol (two counts), firearm found at premises – subject to prohibition order, use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order (two counts), possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (four counts), possess prohibited drug (two counts), and possess counterfeit money (not excepted counterfeit coin). He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 3 on Friday 14 November 2025 where he was formally refused bail to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday 17 November 2025.

About 12.30pm on Thursday 13 November 2025, officers from Coffs Clarence Police District attended a home on Barrie Street, Coffs Harbour, to locate a 26-year-old man wanted on an outstanding warrant for alleged domestic violence offences. The man left the house and was arrested a short time later hiding underneath a log in a nearby creek. The man was searched and police located drugs and a knife. He was arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station. He was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic), custody of knife in public place, supply prohibited drug more than small quantity and less than indictable quantity. He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 on Friday 14 November 2025 where he was granted conditional bail to appear before Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday 18 November 2025. Police will allege a man known to a woman attended her home where he assaulted her and damaged her property on 1 November 2025.

About 6pm on Thursday 13 November 2025, officers attached to South West Metropolitan Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team attended a home Moonshine Street, Cabramatta West, after receiving information a 27-year-old woman, wanted on multiple outstanding arrest warrants, was at the home. She was arrested and taken to Cabramatta Police Station where she was charged by virtue of the outstanding warrants for assault, break and enter and driving offences. The woman was refused bail to appear before Fairfield Local Court on Friday 14 November 2025.

On Friday (14 November 2025), police from Riverina Police District attended a hotel on Marivale Street, Tumut, to locate a man wanted on an outstanding warrant for domestic violence offences and for failing to appear at court. The 18-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tumut Police Station. Police located a realistic black/green plastic Glock style pistol with a functioning slide, drug pipe, and a crystal substance believed to be methylamphetamine. He was charged with possess unauthorised pistol, acquire firearm no licence or permit – prohibited firearm, possess prohibited drug, possession of equipment for administering prohibited drugs and an outstanding warrant. He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday 15 November 2025 where he was further refused bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 19 November 2025.

About 1pm on Friday (14 November 2025), police from Wagga Wagga Region Enforcement Squad attended a shopping centre in Wagga Wagga, after receiving information a 21-year-old man, wanted for three outstanding arrest warrants for domestic violence offences, was at the location. Police will allege he was in the company of a woman who is a protected person on apprehended domestic violence order, which includes a no contact prohibition. The man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic) and the outstanding warrants. He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday 15 November 2025 where he was further refused bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday 18 November 2025.

About 4.30pm on Friday (14 November 2025), police from Oxley Police District attended a home on Tingria Street, West Tamworth, after receiving information a 23-year-old man, wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for domestic violence offences, was at the home. Police will allege the man assaulted a 49-year-old woman known to him after she refused to give him $10 cash. The man was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, destroy or damage property DV, common assault DV, and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO domestic. The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday 15 November 2025, where he was granted conditional bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court on Tuesday 2 December 2025.
