Police Charge Driver After Albury Crash

A man has been charged with six offences after four people were hospitalised following a crash in Albury on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Union and Mate Street shortly after 11pm (Friday 3 October 2025), after an SUV and a van collided.

A 34-year-old woman driving the van and her front-seat passenger, a 33-year-old man, were taken to Albury Base Hospital where they were underwent assessment before being allowed to leave.

A 25-year-old woman, from North Albury, who was a front-seat passenger in the SUV, was also taken to hospital to be checked as a precaution. She has also since left hospital.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District arrested the driver of the SUV at the scene. The 22-year-old man from West Albury, was also taken to hospital as a precaution and remained there under police guard

On release, the man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station where he has now been charged with six offences,

  • Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm)
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (second offence)
  • Not stop at stop line at red light
  • Use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed
  • Use light vehicle not comply with tyres standard, and
  • Not give particulars to other driver

The man, from West Albury, is due to appear in Albury Local Court on 27 October 2025.

Further charges are pending the outcome of mandatory testing.
