Police charge driver after Botany crash

A driver has been charged with numerous traffic offences after a number of crashes at Botany yesterday.

About 5.00pm (Sunday 31 January 2021), emergency services were called to Botany Road, Botany, following a number of fail to stop crashes involving a white LDV van.

Officers from South Sydney Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, officers went to a unit in Edgehill Avenue, Botany, where they arrested a 33-year-old man.

The man was taken to Mascot Police Station, where he was charged with traffic offences, including;

  • Drive manner dangerous
  • Negligent driving
  • Drive vehicle under influence of alcohol
  • Not give particulars to other driver
  • Fail to stop and assist after impact cause injury
  • Not give particulars to injured person
  • Not give particulars to owner of damaged property (two counts)

Police will allege in Court the driver failed to stop after colliding with a Kia Carnival wagon and a parked Kymco scooter, which then caused the scooter to collide with a Mitsubishi ASX sedan.

A female passenger in the Kia Carnival was treated at the scene by Ambulance officers for whiplash injuries.

The driver was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Monday 15 February 2021.
