Police charge driver after evading police in Deer Park

An 18-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly evaded police in a stolen vehicle in Deer Park yesterday.

Keilor Downs police attempted to intercept a vehicle on Ballarat Road when the driver failed to pull over and sped off at a high rate of speed just after 3pm.

Police followed the vehicle through a number of suburbs before the driver crashed into a power pole on Plenty Road in Moonee Ponds.

The male driver, a Mill Park man, was arrested at the scene and charged with theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving whilst pursued, reckless conduct endangering life and other traffic related offences.

He was remanded in custody to appear at court at a later date.
