Police Charge Driver After Merrijig Fatal Collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Merrijig last year.

A Kia station wagon and a Mitsubishi Triton ute collided on Mount Bulle Road, near Mimosa Drive, about 9.15pm on 10 June 2025.

One passenger of the ute, a 48-year-old Cremorne woman, died at the scene.

Another passenger, a 32-year-old St Kilda man, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the ute, a 22-year-old St Kilda man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

The 25-year-old driver of the Kia was airlifted to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Rowville man was later interviewed and has been charged with culpable driving causing death.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 14 April.
