Police charge driver after pedestrian seriously injured - Casula

A man has been charged over a crash that left a pedestrian critically injured in Sydney's south-west.

Just after 11pm on Saturday 26 November 2022, emergency services were called to the Hume Highway near Holston Avenue at Casula, following reports of a crash involving a utility truck and a pedestrian.

On arrival, officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command found a 60-year-old man suffering head, chest and leg injuries.

The driver of the ute, a 23-year-old man, had stopped and rendered assistant until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and took the injured man to Liverpool Hospital, where he remains.

A crime scene was established with inquiries continuing by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators charged a 23-year-old man with driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm on Sunday (1 January 2023).

He is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 1 March 2023.

The man's licence was also suspended.
