Police charge driver after pedestrian struck - Gladesville

A man has been charged after another man was struck by a vehicle in Sydney's north west yesterday.

About 10.30pm (Thursday 20 October 2022), emergency services were called to Victoria Road, Gladesville, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a Toyota Landcruiser.

Police were told a 30-year-old man was standing at the rear of his vehicle after stopping on Victoria Road, near the intersection of Frank Street, when he was struck.

The man was pinned against his vehicle by the Landcruiser before being freed by Fire and Rescue NSW.

He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition with serious leg and internal injuries.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash commenced.

The driver of the Toyota – a 25-year-old man – was uninjured and taken to Ryde Hospital for mandatory testing.

Upon release, he was taken to Ryde Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous and negligent driving – occasions grievous bodily harm. His licence was also suspended.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Hornsby Local Court on Thursday 1 December 2022.
