Police charge driver over fatal crash - Tuggerah Lakes

A man has been charged over a vehicle crash on the Central Coast earlier this week.

About 4.20pm last Tuesday (15 August 2023), emergency services responded to reports of a crash involving two cars and a truck along the Pacific Highway, at Wadalba.

The driver of a Ford Falcon, a 17-year-old male, died at the scene.

The truck driver – a 41-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.

The driver of a Mazda – a 46-year-old woman – was also treated NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District established a crime scene that was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Yesterday (Friday 18 August 2023) the 41-year-old man was arrested after being released from John Hunter Hospital.

He was taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was charged with one count of dangerous driving occasioning death.

The man has been refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today (Saturday 19 August 2023).

His driver's licence has also been suspended by police.
