Police charge driver over fatal single-vehicle crash - Royal National Park

A man has been charged over a fatal single-vehicle crash in Sydney's south earlier this year.

About 1.45pm on Saturday 25 April 2020, emergency services were called to Lady Wakehurst Drive, Lilyvale, following reports a Nissan 200SX had crashed into a tree.

The front passenger, a 19-year-old man, died at the scene.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to St George Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Following inquiries, the 18-year-old man was issued a Court Attendance Notice for seven offences about 10am today (Friday 5 June 2020).

The charges include aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death- speed more than 45 over limit, dangerous driving occasioning death- drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), P1 driver exceed speed more than 45km/h, dangerous driving occasioning death- drive speed dangerous, not keep left of dividing line, and not comply P1/P2 high performance vehicle restriction.

The Fairfield man is due to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 25 August 2020.

He was also issued a licence suspension notice.
