Police charge man after $20,000 cash and 'ice' seized at Dubbo

A man has been charged after $20,000 cash and 'ice' were seized during a search warrant in the state's Orana Region overnight.

About 2.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 24 March 2021), officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended a motel on Brisbane Street, Dubbo, after receiving reports of drug-related activity.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 20-year-old man near the intersection of Macquarie and Wingewarra Streets, following a short foot pursuit.

Police will allege the man discarded about 6g of methylamphetamine (ice) in a carpark on Holls Lane during the incident.

A short time later, detectives executed a search warrant at a motel room.

During the search, a further 3.5 grams of methylamphetamine (ice) and drug paraphernalia was located.

Officers also located more than $20,000 cash, which was subsequently seized.

The man was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity) and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and appeared at Dubbo Local Court today (Thursday 25 March 2021), where he was granted strict conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Thursday 20 May 2021.
