A man has been charged after police seized a commercial quantity of cocaine and Ice in the state's south-west.
Officers attached to Traffic South West, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting patrols of the Hay area shortly before 2pm Friday (17 October 2025), when they stopped a black Jaguar F-Pace on the Sturt Highway, about 150km west of Griffith.
The driver – a 30-year-old man – was subjected to roadside breath test which returned a negative result, before being subjected to a roadside drug test, which returned a positive result.
When the man was searched, police will allege they found cocaine and cash in his possession.
Officers conducted a search of the black Jaguar and seized more than 5kg methlyamphetamine, almost 11kg cocaine, more than $130,000 cash, and two mobile phones. The drugs have an estimated potential combined street value of over $6.3 million.
The driver was arrested and taken to Hay Police Station where he was charged with seven offences,
- Supply prohibited drug equal to or more than large commercial quantity (two counts)
- Recklessly deal with proceeds of general crime with value of $100,000 or more
- Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle) (three counts), and
- Possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear before Griffith Local Court on Wednesday 29 October 2025.
