Police Charge Man After 70cm Knife Seized At Blacktown

A man has been charged and a knife seized during a high-visibility police operation at Blacktown.

Officers attached to Operation Kella were conducting proactive patrols of the Blacktown Train Station precinct about 4pm yesterday (Thursday 6 June 2024), when they stopped an 18-year-old man.

Police will allege when officers spoke to the man, they identified he was carrying a knife.

Officers arrested and searched the man, where they found a 70cm knife concealed in his pants.

The knife was seized and the man was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with custody of knife in public place (subsequent offence).

He has been granted strict conditional bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court next Thursday (13 June 2024).

Operation KELLA (NWMR) is a targeted pro-active operation with the objectives to disrupt and de-escalate youth gang violence.

Operation KELLA is predominately a high-visibility policing response to emerging issues and has a clear focus on continual interactions with those involved in this criminality.
