Police charge man after Albanvale fatal fire

Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad have today charged a man following a fatal house fire in Albanvale in March.

The 38-year-old man has been under police guard in hospital since the incident and was interviewed and charged by police today.

The man was charged with a number of offences including murder and attempted murder.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court tonight.

The charges follow an incident where emergency services were called to the Sutherland Street address about 5.20pm on Monday, 14 March.

A 36-year-old woman was conveyed to hospital with life threatening injuries and subsequently passed away the following morning.

A 17-year-old girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
