Police Charge Man After Armed Incident, Helensvale

A man has been charged following an armed incident at Helensvale last night, 18 June.

It will be alleged that around 10.15pm, a 19-year-old employee was leaving a business on Town Centre Drive when he was approached by a man.

Police allege the man produced a knife and made demands.

The employee left the scene in his vehicle and contacted police. No physical injuries were reported, and no property was taken.

Following investigations, detectives identified the alleged offender, and he was arrested nearby a short time later.

A 21-year-old Biggera Waters man has been charged with one count each of going armed so as to cause fear, possession of a knife in a public place and possessing dangerous drugs.

He was refused police bail and is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today, 19 June.

Investigations remain ongoing.
