Police charge man after armed robberies at Liverpool

A man will face Court after being charged with two armed robberies in the Liverpool area alleged to have occurred in the past two days.

Just after 7.30am (Wednesday 31 May 2023), police were called to a supermarket on Cartwright Avenue, Miller, following reports of an armed robbery.

Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command attended and were told a man had allegedly threatened an employee with a knife and demanded money, before stealing cash and leaving on a pushbike.

The employee was not injured.

A crime scene was established and police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries by the Liverpool Proactive Crime Team, about 8.20am today (Thursday 1st June 2023), police were patrolling the Miller area, when they stopped a 29-year-old man riding a pushbike.

After speaking with the man, he was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station.

The man was charged with robbery whilst armed with offensive weapon at Miller on Wednesday 31 May 2023, the robbery of a Liverpool service station on Tuesday 30 May 2023, goods in custody suspected of being stolen and breach of bail.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court on Friday 2 June 2023.
