Police charge man after armed robbery - Allawah

A man will face court today after being arrested for an alleged armed robbery in Sydney's south earlier this month.

Around 8.35pm on Wednesday 11 December 2019, a man entered a grocery store on Railway Parade, Allawah, where he armed himself with a kitchen knife and demanded money from a staff member.

Following a struggle, the man left the store with a cash register containing a small amount of money.

The staff member, a 24-year-old woman, suffered injuries to her hand and was taken to St George Hospital.

Officers attached to St George Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, officers identified the man allegedly involved in the armed robbery and made attempts to locate him.

On Thursday 19 December 2019, a 31-year-old man attended Kogarah Police Station and was arrested.

The man was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

He was refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court today (Friday 20 December 2019).
