Police charge man after armed robbery at South Murwillumbah

A man has been charged following an alleged armed robbery on the state's Far North Coast earlier this year.

About 8.45pm on Sunday 3 March 2019, a man allegedly armed with a machete, entered a service station on Tweed Valley Way, South Murwillumbah, and threatened the attendant and a male customer.

Police will allege he then stole cash and cigarettes before leaving.

No one was injured during the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, today (Tuesday 2 July 2019), detectives from Tweed/Byron Police District arrested a 30-year-old man at Newcastle Police Station.

He has been charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday 8 July 2019.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
