A man has been charged following an appeal for information after a council ranger was assaulted in Liverpool earlier this week.
Just before 12.30pm on Tuesday (9 April 2019), two council rangers were walking along Norfolk Serviceway when they were confronted by the occupants of a vehicle.
It will be alleged the passenger approached one of the rangers, a 35-year-old man, and punched him to the face, causing him to fall to the ground unconscious.
Witnesses intervened before the pair fled and emergency services were alerted.
The 35-year-old man was taken to Liverpool Hospital with serious facial injuries, where he has undergone surgery.
The second ranger wasn't injured.
Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the assault.
Following a public appeal, a 20-year-old Hinchinbrook man, attended Liverpool Police Station about 3pm today (Saturday 13 April 2019).
He was arrested and charged with eight offences;
- Affray
- Reckless grievous bodily harm – in company
- Aggravated assault with intent rob with wounding/grievous bodily harm
- Assault an authorised officer (x2)
- Assault with intent to rob in company (x2)
- Passenger not disclose driver's/other passenger's identity
The man was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 14 April 2019).
