A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a passenger on a bus in Sydney's west on New Year's Eve.
About 4.45pm on Thursday (31 December 2021), officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command were called to a bus interchange on Moore Street, Liverpool, following reports a man had been assaulted.
Police have been told a 55-year old man was travelling on the top level of a double-decker bus when he was approached by an unknown male passenger. The pair began arguing before the younger man allegedly punched the older man in the head multiple times.
The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital with lacerations to his head. He has since been released.
The younger man fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Officers attached Liverpool Police Area Command assisted by South West Police Transport Command, commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, a 26-year old man was arrested at Liverpool Police Station just after 6pm yesterday (Tuesday 6 January 2021).
He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The Sadleir man was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 6 January 2021) where he was formally refused bail to reappear at Liverpool Local Court on Thursday 14 January 2021.
