Police Charge Man After Attempting To Film Woman

A man will face court tomorrow after allegedly attempting to film a woman in a public toilet.

About 10.45am today (Sunday 7 September 2025), police were called to Anthony Road, West Ryde, following reports a man had been restrained by members of the public.

On arrival, officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command were told a 60-year-old woman had entered public toilets in a shopping centre, before noticing a 46-year-old man was allegedly attempting to film her from within one of the stalls.

When the man ran from the shopping centre, he was followed by the woman and her husband – a 58-year-old man – before he was detained with assistance from another member of the public – a 31-year-old man.

Police seized the 46-year-old's phone before he was taken to Gladesville Police Station and charged with:

- Observe person in private act without consent

- Peep or pry

- Film person in private act with without consent

- Common assault (three counts)

He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Monday 8 September 2025).
