Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged assault in Dandenong last week.
It is alleged a man assaulted a 51-year-old man at a bus stop on Langhorne Street about 11am on Tuesday, 18 August.
Police will allege the man kicked the victim multiple times, left the scene, then returned and continued to assault him.
The 51-year-old man of no fixed address was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.
Police arrested a 35-year-old man of no fixed address nearby.
Detectives have charged him with 10 offences, including intentionally cause serious injury with gross violence, intentionally cause serious injury, recklessly cause injury and affray.
He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 27 August.
The investigation remains ongoing.
