Police charge man after double fatal collision at Richmond

A man has been charged following the deaths of two cyclists in Sydney's north-west this week.

About 4.55am on Thursday 19 December 2019, two cyclists were travelling west along Kurrajong Road, Richmond, when they were struck by a Hyundai i30 Hatch.

Emergency services attended, and one man, aged 49, was confirmed deceased at the scene.

A second man, aged 40, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics. He was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition but passed away later that evening.

The driver of the Hyundai was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Following inquiries, today (Saturday 21 December 2019), a 19-year-old man from Gross Vale was charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death and not keep left of dividing line.

He was issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice to appear at Windsor Local Court on Thursday 6 February 2020.

The man's licence has been suspended.
