Police charge man after firearm and knives located in vehicle - Quakers Hill

A man will face court today after police seized a firearm and weapons from a vehicle in Sydney's north-west last night.

About 7.30pm (Wednesday 10 July 2019), police were called to a home on Manorhouse Boulevarde, Quakers Hill, after reports of a concern for welfare.

Police attended the home and located a man sitting in a vehicle outside the property, which was searched due to the man's suspicious behaviour.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers located and seized a Ruger 10/22 model pistol, a 25-round magazine, a silencer, knives, a baton, and drug paraphernalia.

The 53-year-old man was arrested and taken to Riverstone Police Station where he was charged with possess unregistered prohibited firearm, possess ammunition without authority, possess a prohibited weapon (x2), have custody of a knife in a public place, and possession of an offensive implement.

He was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Thursday 11 July 2019).
