Police Charge Man After Firearm Warrant At Warrnambool

Detectives from the Illicit Firearms Squad have charged a man as part of an investigation into alleged firearms trafficking in the Warrnambool area.

A warrant was executed at a residential property on Mortlake Road about 4.45pm on Wednesday, 10 December with assistance from the Warrnambool Crime investigation Unit and Division Response Unit.

A 43-year-old Warrnambool man was arrested and interviewed by police.

He was subsequently charged with possess traffickable quantity of firearms, possess Cat A or B unregistered longarm, make explosive without lawful excuse, and possess explosive substance.

The man was bailed to appear at Warrnambool Magistrates' Court on 23 February, 2026.

Police also seized 13 disassembled firearms from the address.

The Bomb Response Unit also attended to conduct safety checks at the premises.

The investigation remains ongoing.
