Police charge man after firearms incident in Inverloch

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have charged a man following an alleged firearms incident in Inverloch earlier this month.

A 20-year-old Woodleigh man was arrested at his residence yesterday with assistance from the Special Operations Group.

He was subsequently charged with a range of offences including:

• Attempted armed robbery (x2)

• Aggravated burglary

• Prohibited person possess firearm

• Possess drug of dependence (x3)

• Possess ammunition

• Weapons offences

He was subsequently remanded in custody to appear at Latrobe Magistrates' Court on 26 May.

Police also seized a number of items from the Woodleigh property including a high-powered firearm, ammunition and a range of drugs.

The charges follow an incident on Toorak Road, Inverloch on 17 May where two people were allegedly threatened with a firearm and demands were made for their property.

During the incident the firearm was discharged however no one was injured.

A 17-year-old female was also arrested in relation to separate matters and subsequently charged with aggravated burglary, possess firearm and possess drug of dependence.

She has been bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date.
