Police Charge Man After Glenroy Firearm Incident

Merri-Bek Crime Investigation Unit have charged a man following a firearms incident in Glenroy yesterday.

It is alleged a 33-year-old man had a firearm inside a carport on Murrel Street about 2pm.

He fled in a light-coloured Honda Jazz when police arrived.

Officers intercepted the Honda on Murrel Street and arrested the driver.

Police searched the car and allegedly located a firework, which was examined by the Bomb Response Unit and deemed to be safe.

The Meadow Heights man was charged with:

  • prohibited person use imitation firearm
  • traffick methylamphetamine and 1,4 Butanediol
  • possess drug of dependence x6
  • possess controlled weapon
  • possess prohibited weapon
  • negligently deal with the proceeds of crime
  • commit Indictable offence whilst on bail

He was remanded to face Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court today.
