Police charge man after gun parts and ammunition located at Kurri Kurri

Several gun parts and ammunition have been seized during a search warrant at a Hunter Valley property.

About 2pm yesterday (Tuesday 20 August 2019), police from Hunter Valley Target Action Group executed a search warrant at a home on Wickham Street, Stanford Merthyr, just outside of Kurri Kurri where they spoke with a 32-year-old man.

During the search, officers allegedly located parts of firearms, including pistol and rifle parts, ammunition, and credit cards.

The man was arrested and taken to Cessnock Police Station.

He was charged with goods in custody, possess prohibited weapon without permit, possess ammunition without licence and four counts of possess firearm barrel.

He was refused bail to appear at Maitland Local Court today (Wednesday 21 August 2019).
