Armed Crime Squad detectives have this afternoon charged a man following an incident where a man was shot in Hampton earlier this month.
A 41-year-old man from Carrum Downs was arrested this afternoon by members of the Special Operations Group at a property in Noble Park.
He has since been charged with prohibited person in possession of firearm, contravene firearm prohibition order, possess firearm related items, traffick methylamphetamine and possess ammunition.
The man will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
A firearm, drugs and an array of firearm related parts were seized.
The charges follow an incident where emergency services were called to Prince Street shortly before midnight on Wednesday, 9 July following reports a man had been shot.
Police will allege a 38-year-old Hampton man, and a 23-year-old Hampton woman approached a stationary vehicle before the man was shot in the upper body.
He was conveyed to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
The woman was not physically injured during the incident.
Police believe the incident was targeted and parties involved were known to each other.
