Police charge man after handling firearm and posting on social media - Hills

A man has been charged after he allegedly posted an image of himself holding a handgun on social media.

Detectives from The Hills Police Area Command allege the 19-year-old man was at a home in Rouse Hill about 7pm last Saturday (3 August 2019), when he gained access to a registered firearm.

It's alleged he took images of himself holding the handgun, then posted them on his social media account.

About 1pm yesterday (Monday 5 August 2019), the man attended Castle Hill Police Station where he was arrested and charged with possess unauthorised pistol.

He has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Tuesday 6 August 2019).
