Police charge man after high risk driving

A man has been charged after high risk driving in Tooradin overnight.

Police first observed a blue Holden Commodore sedan driving erratically and at speed on Pound Road, Clyde North just before 2am.

Police on the ground were supported by the Air Wing who followed the vehicle as it continued to drive erratically through the south eastern suburbs.

The car was followed to Dore Street, Tooradin, where police attempted to intercept the car.

The car continued to evade police before the driver dumped the vehicle on Circle Road North, in Cranbourne and the driver fled.

He was arrested a short distance away hiding in a shed at a property in Haven Court.

A backpack was located with a homemade firearm, ammunition prohibited weapons and a small amount of drugs.

A 27-year-old Tooradin man has been charged with possessing a firearm, possess ammunition, possessing controlled weapons, trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence and traffic offences.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates' Court later this morning.
