Police charge man after hydroponic set up dismantled - Illawarra region

A man has been charged over the alleged cultivation and supply of cannabis in the Illawarra region.

Just before 9am today (Wednesday 30 June 2021), officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Charles Avenue, Minnamurra, where they located a well-established indoor hydroponic set up.

During the search, police seized more than 1.5kg of loose cannabis, four cannabis plants methylamphetamine, and weapons including knuckle dusters, a sling shot, extendable batons and ammunition.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with cultivate prohibited plant, possess ammunition, possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, and six counts of possess prohibited weapon.

The Minnamurra man was granted conditional bail to appear in Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday 1 September 2021.
