Police charge man after indecent assault of an 8-year-old girl - Casula

A man will face court today charged after allegedly indecently assaulting a young girl in Sydney's south-west.

Last month, police received reports that an 8-year-old girl had been indecently assaulted by a man known to her outside an apartment complex in Casula.

The matter was referred to detectives at the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad who commenced an investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators attended a home in Casula and arrested a 64-year-old man about 1.15pm yesterday (Monday 1 February 2021).

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with intentionally sexually touch child under 10 years.

Police will allege in court that the man sexually touched the girl while she played in the driveway of the unit complex.

He was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Tuesday 2 February 2021).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
