Police charge man after Laverton fatal

Detectives from the Major collision Investigation Unit have charged a man following a fatal multi-vehicle collision in Laverton earlier this year.

It is believed a Ford Ranger utility towing a trailer was travelling outbound on the Princes Freeway when it collided nose to tail with three other cars near Kororoit Creek Road about 5.50am on 21 April.

The collision caused a white Kia sedan to veer across the freeway where it was struck by two trucks.

A 57-year-old Caroline Springs man, who was the driver of the Kia, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

MCIU detectives have charged a 59-year-old man with dangerous driving causing death.

The Mount Martha man has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 13 November.
