Police charge man after Nicholson armed robbery

East Gippsland Criminal Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 39-year-old man following an alleged armed robbery at a general store in Nicholson on 19 January.

It is alleged a man armed with a machete entered a store on the Princes Highway at 10.20am where he threatened staff members and stole cash.

A Bairnsdale man has been charged with armed robbery and possess prohibited weapon.

He will appear at court later today.
