Police charge man after Oakleigh East collision

A 19-year-old man has been charged in relation to a fatal collision that left two people deceased in Oakleigh East.

It is alleged that a Mazda 3 and Nissan Skyline collided on Ferntree Gully Road about 8pm on 29 September.

The driver and only occupant of the Skyline, a 21-year-old Hampton Park man, died at the scene.

A 19-year-old Ferntree Gully woman, who was a rear seat passenger in the Mazda, was taken to hospital in a critical condition and later died.

An 18-year-old Box Hill man travelling in the back seat, was taken to hospital and remains in a critical but stable condition.

The Bayswater North man has been charged with culpable driving and negligently cause serious injury and will appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court tonight.
