Police charge man after 'one punch' attack at Cobar

A man has been charged and another remains in hospital following a serious assault outside a licensed premise in the state's Central West overnight.

About 9.30am yesterday (Thursday 25 July 2019), two men, aged 19 and 37, were directed to leave a hotel in Cobar following a verbal dispute.

Once outside the premises, it is alleged the younger man punched the older man to the head before leaving.

Officers attached the Central North Police District responded immediately and commenced and investigation into the incident.

The man was treated by paramedics for a significant head injury and taken to Cobar Hospital, before being transferred to Dubbo Hospital for further treatment.

Following inquiries, the 19-year-old was arrested at a nearby licensed premises.

He was taken to Cobar Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was released on conditional bail to appear at Cobar Local Court on Wednesday 28 August 2019.
