Police Charge Man After Pursuit And Crash - Pendle Hill

A man has been charged after a pursuit and crash in Sydney's south west.

About 11.50pm yesterday (Wednesday 22 October 2025), police attached to the Dog Unit attempted to stop a Toyota sedan on Dunmore Street, Pendle Hill, after the driver allegedly failed to stop at a red light.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through to Smithfield, before the vehicle crashed into a parked trailer at the intersection of Percival Road and Woodpark Road, with the driver allegedly running from the scene.

An occupant of the vehicle was spoken to and released without further action.

With assistance from PolAir, police located the alleged driver – a 31-year-old man – in a nature reserve nearby, before he was arrested.

A subsequent search was conducted on the man and the vehicle with police allegedly locating and seizing methylamphetamine, cannabis, and $1,700 cash.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

He was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with:

- Police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly

- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period

- P1 driver exceed speed greater than 30 km/h

- Not stop at stop line at red light (not toll booth)-motor vehicle

- Possess prohibited drug

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 23 October 2025).
