Police Charge Man After Pursuit At Port Macquarie

A man has been charged following a pursuit in Port Macquarie this morning.

About 8.15am today (Thursday 20 November 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol were patrolling the Port Macquarie area when they attempted to stop a Subaru sedan driving on Watonga Street.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through Port Macquarie and onto Ocean Drive towards Lake Cathie. The pursuit was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

A short time later, police were told that the vehicle had entered the Thrumster area before the car stopped at the end of Bestglen Place, and the driver ran into nearby bushland.

Police commenced a search of the area with assistance from the Dog Unit, and arrested a 24-year-old man in dense bushland north of the Oxley Highway.

The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

The man was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, and two counts of drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 tomorrow (Friday 21 November 2025).
